I'm Ligia N. Cushman, a Dominican-American romantasy author, and this is From the Author's Desk. It's the place where I'll be opening the drawer on everything that doesn't quite fit into a newsletter or a social post — release notes you can bookmark, deep-dives into the characters who live rent-free in my head, and letters about what it's actually like to write two dark-fantasy romance series while holding down a full-time life.
What you'll find here
Four kinds of posts, most weeks:
- Release News — launches, pre-orders, signed editions, limited bundles. If a book is dropping or a special edition is going live, you'll see it here first.
- Character Lore — the side of Fhear you only meet in chapter twelve, the reason Jade Mason wears gloves, the street in Lumina I redrew six times. Spoilers always flagged.
- Author Life — my Dominican-American heritage in the worldbuilding, the writing routines that actually work, the events I'm taking the books to, and the behind-the-scenes of making each title look the way it does in your hand.

Where to start if you're new
Two series, two moods:
If you want Afro-Latina-coded fantasy romance with enemies-to-lovers tension and a slow-burn political thriller spine, start with Fhear's Fury, Book 1 of The Lumina Saga. It just released, and readers are already calling it "dark, addictive, and impossible to put down."
If you want Caribbean-inspired high fantasy with dragons, a cursed crown, and a heroine who refuses to stay hidden, start with Rise of a Dark Throne, Book 1 of The Mōsa Chronicles. Over 354,000 pages have been read on Kindle alone.
